“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11
Do you know that you speak the very words of God? I don’t think Paul is just talking about preaching here – but speaking. Every day talk? Conversation with co-workers, family and friends? We are told to administer God’s grace in it’s various forms. Our speech is a huge part of the evidence of God’s grace in our lives or not. This quote pierced me to the heart earlier this week in regards to our speech:
“The use of the tongue ‘is the hinge in which the door into our souls swings open in order to reveal our spirit. In effect, our words are like so many media ppl rushing in to file their reports on the condition of our souls.’ – Sinclair Ferguson” – Taken from C.J. Mahney’s Humility – True Greatness.
Do my words reflect grace? Outside of love, grace is the greatest gift I can give to anyone. I want to give a gift of grace to everyone I run into by my speech. We can breathe life into a person by pointing out God’s grace in their lives.

Good article….a thought I had. When we speak our expression reflects a lot too…..how we look when we speak. I can say something to someone and my face will reflect my true inner feelings. Just something I notice about people. Esp. our eyes can say a lot……so I think it all goes together. Just my late night thinking 🙂

well I love your late night thinking! That is so true – esp when our body language makes up – what, 75% of our communication? How we speak with our eyes is probably just as or vene more important as our speech. Doesn’t scripture say the eye is the lamp of the body or spirit? (haha now you got me thinking!) Thank you.
