The Things I do {not} See

My spirit matched the grey cold drizzle of the spring rain that bounced off the dirty wing as I boarded the plane and contemplate all the things in my life that didn’t make sense. I see dead ends and unfulfilled promises, it’s a familiar waiting room. Gazing through the plane widow as we ascend through the clouds this weeks verse reverberates through my soul –“ you establish your faithfulness in heaven it’s self”. The Hebrew root of the word ‘heaven’ used here means both the sky above and the places where celestial beings walk.

The plane levels above the clouds and clear pure sunlight illuminates everything and it’s vibrant rays pierce through the blah in my soul. This is God’s view. This is where His faithfulness is established. There is ALWAYS sunshine above our clouds. Always.  I can’t always see it or feel it below the clouds, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

And in His faithfulness He leaves us a rainbow bridge bringing the light from above down into our dark mess. The rainbow bridge is the piercing, all knowing, Holy Spirit. We don’t see and understand things but the Spirit does and through Him we can have light to see.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him – but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no ones knows the thoughts of God expect the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.” As Christians we can receive the Spirit of God to be able to “have the mind of Christ”.

I may not see or understand everything in my life – but the Lord does, and with and by His Spirit He can bring me understanding and peace as If I ask for His eyesight not mine.

  1. Hmm… love this, Katie. The things we don’t see. And the unending grace of a God who does see beyond the clouds. And that He offers us His Spirit- that we might see with His eyes! He is so good.

  2. How truly important it is for us to remember to SEE with His vision and not our own.

  3. If only we could all see things through God’s eyes. But since we can’t, we have to have faith. 🙂
